TRANSFER: Arsenal Open Talks With Morgan Schneiderlin As Sami Khedira’s Wage Demands Are Too High
by Tom Seymour
The Gunners have turned their attention to the Saints ace.
Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is once again on the radar of Arsenal as other target Sami Khedira’s wage demands are too high for the club, according to Goal.
The Real Madrid star is valued at around £20m due to the fact the 2014 World Cup winner is in the final year of his current contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, a price which the Gunners are prepared to pay.
However, they have hit a stumbling block in terms of wages, with Khedira currently paid around £200,000-a-week by Madrid, a sum that if the North Londoners were to match would make the 27-year-old the highest paid player at the club ahead of record signing Mesut Ozil – who is paid around £150,000-a-week.
With neither party wanting to budge, Arsene Wenger has instead turned his attention back to a former target in the shape of Saints enforcer Schneiderlin.
The France international has made it known that he would consider a switch from St Mary’s this summer, having already watched something of an exodus from the south coast.
So far this summer club captain Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert have moved to Liverpool, Luke Shaw has joined Manchester United and manager Mauricio Pochettino has taken over the reigns at Tottenham Hotspur.
Wenger values Schneiderlin at around £15m, whilst his club are holding out for closer to £18m as they prepare to lose yet another key player to a Premier League giant.
