LIVERPOOL AFTER REAL MADRID DEFENDER
Los Blancos value the full back at £11.5m.
Liverpool have now moved ahead of a
number of big-name teams in the race to
land coveted Real Madrid left-back Fabio
Coentrao, according to reports in the Daily
Mirror.
The highly rated Portugal international has
found himself in an unfamiliar position so far
in this campaign of having to warm the
substitutes' bench at the Santiago Bernabeu,
with new Los Blancos head coach Carlo
Ancelotti instead preferring to go with Brazil
international Marcelo instead in the role.
And as a result, Coentrao has now made up
his mind to leave the Spanish capital come
the end of this season in order to try out a
new challenge in his career in an overseas
league, with the likes of mega-rich Ligue 1
outfit AS Monaco, Premier League
champions Manchester United, Manchester
City, and Tottenham Hotspur all known to be
keen on signing the Portuguese when the
summer transfer window reopens again for
business at the start of July.
However, it now appears as though it is the
Merseyside giants who are winning the race
for the full back after the club made contact
with Coentrao's agent Jorge Mendes last
week to discuss a possible move for his
client.
