TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal wants it early
Emirates Stadium side close in on
impressive collection of summer transfer
window additions.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is feverishly
looking to complete a quartet of deals as he
seeks to strengthen his Emirates Stadium
squad with early summer transfer window
dealings.
CaughtOffside understands that the north
London club are keen to avoid a last minute
rush to bring in high profile signings and as
such have been in talks with prospective
targets ever since they completed their
season with a morale boosting FA Cup final
triumph over Hull City.
Wenger has been handed significant transfer
funds and is ready to bring in four new
additions to boost his squad with one of
those purchases being a big money signing
that he hopes will appease a fan-base that
will look to their club to push on after ending
their long running silverware drought.
The Arsenal boss is in advanced talks with
Barcelona over a move to re-sign former
skipper Cesc Fabregas with Wenger ready to
fork out £35m for the Spanish international.
The Nou Camp side are ready to offload a
number of first team players as incoming
manager Luis Enrique looks to put his stamp
on the squad he has inherited from Gerardo
Martino and Fabregas, perhaps surprisingly,
is considered surplus to requirements.
The 27 year old became something of a
scapegoat for last season's failures and was
repeatedly booed by his own supporters, this
despite the fact that he finished the campaign
as the club's leading assist maker.
Fabregas rejoined Barcelona back in August
2011 having racked up 303 appearances
during his eight seasons in the Arsenal first
team set-up and the World Cup winner still
retains strong linked with the club and is
said to be open to a move back this summer.
Arsene Wenger is ready to stump up £6m to
land Norwich City keeper John Ruddy who
the French manager has earmarked as the
ideal man to act as a solid back-up to first
choice custodian Wojciech Szczesny.
The 27 year old Canaries goalie just missed
out on a spot in Roy Hodgson's 2014 World
Cup finals squad and is likely to be pushing
for a Carrow Road exit after Norwich City's
relegation to the Championship and the
former Everton man may be confident of his
ability to push Szczesny hard for a spot in
Wenger's starting eleven.
Arsene Wenger's hopes of retaining French
veteran Bacary Sagna are all but dead in the
water and this has led to the Arsenal
manager edging closer to securing Toulouse
youngster Serge Aurier.
The Ivory Coast international has long been
linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium
and Arsenal will meet Toulouse's £10m
price-tag.
The 21 year old is considered one of the
hottest prospects in Ligue 1 and Wenger
wants a deal done and dusted before the
World Cup finals for fear that his price-tag
could increase at the tournament.
Arsene Wenger will stump up £12m for QPR
forward Loic Remy and will hope that such
an offer will convince the newly promoted
Loftus Road side to sell the French
international.
Remy enjoyed a hugely successful season
out on loan at Newcastle United last term,
scoring 14 goals in 24 Premier League starts,
and Wenger is believed to have been
attendance as France thumped Norway in
Tuesday night's World Cup warm-up, during
which the former Marseille man combined
well with Olivier Giroud.
Wenger is keen to strengthen his attack and
feels that Remy has more than proven
himself at Premier League level and will look
to Remy to support Giroud in the Arsenal
attack with Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott
being predominantly used in wide roles.
