TRANSFER: Arsenal seeks new goalkeeper

Gunners to add more experience between the
sticks.
Arsenal are said to be preparing to open
talks with Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir
Begovic over a move to the Emirates
Stadium this summer, according to the
Metro .
The Gunners are in desperate need of another
glovesman for next season, with Lukasz
Fabianski and loanee Emiliano Viviano both
set to leave, meaning Wojciech Szczesny
would be the club’s only senior stopper.
Manager Arsene Wenger entrusted his faith
into Szczesny this season, and though the
Pole's form showed a great improvement, it
is believed that he has targeted the Stoke
stopper to provide some much needed
competition in between the sticks.
Gunners officials are said to be in talks with
Stoke with the view to making an offer for the
player in the coming days, and an £8m fee
has been mooted.
The Potters are in no rush to sell, though, but
if they choose to allow Begovic to move on
they have the benefit of calling upon long-
term replacement Jack Butland to step up in
his place.
Begovic has long been recognised as one of
the most consistent goalkeepers in the
Premier League, having impressed since his
switch from Portsmouth.
