TRANSFER: Chelsea in pursuit of PSG's Ezequiel Lavezzi

Chelsea made an enquiry about signing
Ezequiel Lavezzi during the negotiations
over the transfer of David Luiz to Paris St-
Germain.
Luiz will move to PSG after the French
champions agreed to pay Chelsea £48
million for the Brazil international. Chelsea
are interested in taking Lavezzi in the
opposite direction in a separate deal, but
face a battle to convince PSG to sell. The
Argentine forward still has two years to run
on his PSG contract and the French club
want to extend his deal.
PSG may be prepared to use Chelsea’s
interest in Lavezzi as part of a big bid to sign
Eden Hazard, who Laurent Blanc, the
manager, has admitted is his main attacking
target of the summer.
Lavezzi has impressed Chelsea chiefs over
recent years, scoring twice against the Blues
for Napoli and also scoring for PSG against
Jose Mourinho's team this season. Like
Hazard, he can play anywhere across a front
three.
Mourinho is confident of finalising the £32
million transfer of Atlético Madrid striker
Diego Costa now that the Champions League
final is out of the way, but he will still look to
add more goals to his squad.
